DoggoTranslator ("the app") uses an AI vision model to interpret your dog's body language from photos you choose to upload. This page explains what data the app collects, what it does with that data, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Photos you upload. Each photo is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis. When a translation is saved to your dog's journal, a compressed copy of the photo (up to 220 KB) and the analysis result are stored on our servers so the journal can re-render past entries. Photos from one-off analyses that you do not save are not retained after the response is returned.
Anonymous device identifier. The first time you visit, the app generates a random UUID and stores it in your browser's localStorage. This identifier is sent with API requests so we can return your dog roster on this device. The UUID is not tied to your name, email, IP address, or any third party.
Dog profile information. Names, breeds, avatar thumbnails, and visual description hints from past group photos are stored on our servers and linked only to your anonymous device identifier.
Translation journal entries. Each saved translation stores the analysis result, the compressed photo, and a timestamp. Entries can be deleted individually from the journal view.
Sync codes. If you choose to move your dogs to another device, a 6-character code tied to your device identifier is stored on our servers for up to 15 minutes. After it is redeemed or expires, the code is deleted.
Optional feedback. If you tap thumbs-up or thumbs-down on a translation, the rating, an optional comment, the detected breed, and the detected mood are stored to help improve the model. Feedback is not linked to your device identifier.
What we do not collect
No accounts. No email address, no password, no phone number.
No analytics SDKs, advertising trackers, or third-party trackers.
No location data.
We do not sell, share, or rent any data.
Third parties
Photos and analysis prompts are processed by Anthropic, Inc. via the Claude API. If audio playback is enabled, translation text is sent to OpenAI for text-to-speech generation; generated audio is streamed back to your browser and is not retained on our servers. The app is hosted on Railway, which provides the infrastructure.
Children's privacy
The app is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your choices
To remove a saved dog, tap the trash button on the dog's profile card. The dog and all of its journal entries are deleted from our servers.
To delete a single journal entry, tap the trash icon next to that entry in the journal view.
To clear everything on this device, clear the site's storage in your browser settings. This deletes the local device identifier, which severs the link to any data on our servers (orphaned data on the server is purged on a periodic basis).
To request deletion of any feedback you've left, email the address on the support page with the approximate date and a few words from your comment so we can locate the row.
